From Command#15 Red Sky Morning Variant Philippine Status To incorporate the latest evolutions in Pacific Rim geopolitics into your play of RSM, use the following new rules about the status of the Philippines. After choosing sides, but before setting up, role one die and consult the following chart to determine the fate of the Philippines and the Subic Bay base for that match. Die Roll Result 1-2 Philippines are U.S. ally. 3-4 Philippines are neutral. 5-6 Philippines are incorporated into the new Greater East- Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere (a.k.a. "the Yen zone"). Explanations If the result is a "1" or "2," we assume that between now and the start of the RSM war, another revolution or coup takes place in the Philippines, and it succeeds in putting a pro- American regime back in place. Play the game according to the normal rules. If the result is a "3" or "4," we assume the Philippines remain neutral throughout the conflict. That nation and its base are completely out of play. Relocate the at-start US forces there to Guam (note that Guam is not a major base as far as repair capacities, etc.). During play, neither side's units may enter or over-fly Philippine territory. If random event no. 10 occurs, consider it to be 'No Event Triggered." If the result is a "5" or "6" we assume the Philippines have become actively allied with Tokyo (in return for major economic aid, etc.). The US atstart units for Subic Bay are moved to Guam as above. The Japanese player may alter his at-start set up to place any of his sea and/ or air units in Subic Bay (not the IG division!). Subic Bay does function as a major naval dockyard for the new owners. If random event no. 10 occurs, it remains in effect, but substitute the phrase 'Japanese player" for "U.S. player" whenever it appears.
